Impatto
Reconnecting with nature, entering it on tiptoe, becoming equal to it are the starting point of the photographic production IMPATTO “Self-portraits in Salento”. The medium used is digital photography, with a self-timer.
The photographs taken inside the Porto Cesareo nature reserve over the last 4 years (from 2019 to 2024) tell of moments of isolation and meditation in which the tumult of everyday life is interrupted in favor of a more meditative relationship with nature. The title of the project focuses on the double meaning of the word IMPATTO, in which there are two different meanings: one is to hit and alter something. The other is to equalize, that is, to bring back to the same level, to rebalance.
In the series of photographs the body adapts to the plants, the rocks, the sand, becoming one with the surrounding landscape. The shots create a strong impact, but exquisitely visual and scenic, without producing that sadly contemporary impact of altering the surrounding environment, but rather enhancing and celebrating it. The author explores the landscape of her homeland, Salento, together with the landscape of the body that merges with it.
