Daniele Cascone
People with random objects
On the occasion of the exhibition "Random Objects with People" by italian photographer Daniele Cascone, Jasmina Trifoni highlights the connection between Cascone’s photographic work and the cultural tradition of Sicilian Baroque, woven with a refined and surreal sensitivity. As in Bufalino, quoted at the beginning, in Cascone too objects become protagonists and symbols of existence, in compositions rich with cultured references, from Caravaggesque lighting to the Orientalist sensuality of Ingres, and the Dutch vanitas. However, the images go beyond mere citation: they invite a subtle game, a visual riddle in which each viewer is called to recognize a cherished object, evoking intimate memories.
