POSPARTUM Experiencing motherhood for the first time during COVID brings up a range of emotions and questions. The resources usually available to these new mothers were significantly restricted in 2020. This portrait highlights the experience of my friend Mariette, who gave birth to Matisse that year. Postpartum offers a contemporary look at the internal tensions that new mothers can experience. Taken in a breastfeeding pose, this portrait presents her strong and serene.
